The run is taken over with fragrant Lizard's-tail (Saururus cernuus) and Solomon's Seal (Polygonatum biflorum).
We also saw tons of jewelweed (Impatiens capensis).
Taken April 1 the soil evaluator pushes his auger into increasingly deeper holes to look at the soil.

Not the greatest, but maybe we can make a case to be able to build here. Fingers crossed.
Taken April 1 while when meeting with the soil evaluator. This is our tree.
It's a beech tree. Probably a couple hundred years old. Click on each thumbnail photo

Here is the site for the building with the shadow of "our tree."
Gorgeous old snag (one of many) across the run and part of the view from the proposed screen porch.
A branch fell and then a sprig of pine blew into place. No human could have staged it better.
I just can't stop taking pictures of the gorgeous run.
Taken March 23, 2014: While investigating potential areas for driveways, we decided there
is no way we can come through on the graveyard side of the run as there are huge old snags (homes to tons of wildlife)
and a couple of vernal
pools. This one is CHOCK FULL of frog or possibly salamander eggs. We need to not disturb this area and to protect it from others messing it up.

These photos were taken at about 2:30 in the afternoon, all on the same day. We were on the edge
of the run
and it was quite wet and the water was running, albeit slowly. We figured it was from the melting snow.
The afternoon sun was shining through the trees and it was quite warm for this time of day (about 60°), The ground was dryer and firmer on the Apple
Grove side of the run and we found what might be a good building site.
The brook running through the property is quite beautiful this time of day
and is home to a few species of frogs and plant life. It will be interesting to see the different seasons
from the inside instead of from the road.
